LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

We decided to give ourselves permission to start looking at classic cars.  After Cindy's cancer last year and her heart stents this year, we thought what are we waiting for?  It's time to live.  We started looking online and the first car we say was on Craigslist and it was a 1956 Dodge Royal 3-tone 2-door hardtop.

We kept searching and realized many of the cars we liked were not only hours away in Iowa but some out of state.  I even started a blog to keep track of cars we were interested in.

On Saturday July 9, we decided we just wanted to go look at a car...any car in person.  Just to sit on one and see how Cindy felt in an older and possibly smaller car.  We found an ad on Craigslist for a 1953 Chevy.  I called and spoke with Randy Jones.  He said this was his business and he had a shop and he had some other cars...was helping with an estate, etc.  Mentioned a 1955 Dodge and he must have heard something in my voice that registered excitement.  We set up a time to go out that afternoon.  We pulled up and couldn't believe our eyes!  Randy had parked the Dodge in front of the car we called about 😀

You can imagine seeing this beauty in the sun...checking all of the boxes ('50s, two-tone, two-door hardtop, whitewalls).  It truly was stunning to see the car.  And then to hear it start!  And Randy got under the hood to rev it up. The story we tell is "you had me at Hemi..." 😁

This is the first and last car we looked at and considered.  We found a way to make it happen and assured Justin we would honor Gordon's car and let people know it was his...we are just driving it and sharing it.

People ask us where we found the car.  The answer is "Pleasant Hill by way of Newton by way of Iowa City..." and it wasn't the car we went to see.
