VFW #1 2024

Perfect weather for our first VFW cruise-in this year.  Someone estimated 105 cars/trucks were out.  That is a great turnout.  We met some of the nicest people.  I would say this shows that people are willing to move on from any scuttle about charging to get in.  It got resolved and felt the same to us.  There was some unfortunate drama...EMTs were called out.  Someone inside at the bar fell backward and knocked himself out.

First two photos from Marvin Whitlock on Facebook.  Interesting to see what others see and to see us actually driving.  The guy in the purple shirt and his wife were nice.  More on them down the page.

Jane and Larry Feguson joined us.

1BADCAD for sure.  Cindy's letting him know how much she likes the car.  This '59 belonged to this gentleman I believe 30 years ago...sold it to his uncle and then got it back and took it to Carnock Creations for the interior and not sure what else but it was amazing.

I had not seen this '40 Fod Deluxe before.

This '62 Studebaker belonged to a nice couple that didn't live far from the VFW and had never been out before.  They bought this at an auction in Florida.  It was clean and a good price and had it shipped home.  Having fun with it.  In great shape and a fun example of compact cars in that day.

Cindy likes this '55 Ford.  Has a continental kit of course...

Not sure if this car is rare...but not often seen.  This is not an Impala (which for '58 was the top trim line for Chevy).  This is a Bel Air 2-door hardtop.

Dashcam footage of the '58

You really can't beat a '57 'Bird.  I've got 3 of those hubcaps if needed.

This car is owned by a woman who told us I'm bringing my car over to you guys.  It is NOT a kit car.  Mini Mark out of Indiana.  The way it came off the assembly line.  She drove from Oregon to Iowa.

MARYLOO RIDES!

Today is the day we picked up our new plates.  Couldn't get the traditional spelling but we are thrilled to have her name on the car...

BENNIGAN'S #1 2024

It's always nice to drive 5 miles to a roll-in so we went over to Bennigan's last night.  We weren't sure what the turnout would be because Karl's Summer Nights was on at the same time (at DMACC for the year) but it was a great crowd.  Had a lot of fun talking with people we haven't met before, and the cars and trucks did not disappoint.  It was cooling off and getting cloudy and we left so as not to get caught in the rain again (held off for another 2 hours).

This belongs to a guy we talked to.  Found it in a barn in Missouri. Said it was painted with a brush but done right mechanically.  I think he said his last name is Noyce?  We invited him to the VFW.

Not every day you see a 1958 Mercury...and a tri-tone to boot.

Something else you don't see every day...
