Although we made the right call not going due to all the rain (and mud), we did get used in promoting this year's show. The show went on and was clear starting a little after 8am. All of the pictures posted were on pavement. We knew what the grass would be like.

SUGAR SHACK #3 - 2025
A little warm so crowd lighter. Met a guy from Cedar Rapids (originally from Boston) that Googled what to do and found his way to the Shack! Very knowledgeable about cars and really liked Mary Lou. Pointed out how the engine is reinforced to handle the torque. Could tell it was lowered.

SUGAR SHACK #2 - 2025
Getting there at 5:30 means we get to make an entrance!
Early birds were in the shade...
A man came up to us and asked if we were the owners of "that" car. He said he owns the Gabriel House on Pennsylvania Ave by Captain Roy's and Union Park. The one with the turret. Cindy and both knew the house from going to her doctor's office. Turns out they put on arts festivals at their house and wanted to know if we would want to part of a '50s theme with maybe 3 cars parked out front as pieces of art. His name is David Barzen and he was there with his wife. He is the current president of the Des Moines Historical Society. We exchanged cards. He also has a '60s theme coming up July 26 and we pointed him toward Russ Rist.
The Rees Gabriel House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
We're not when he's thinking about, but we are both thinking it's quite an honor. When we drove away, he was recording us with his phone.
We got the Concrete Cruizer treatment with a special park spot. Larry pretended to be upset because he was saving us a spot 😀.
This '54 Chevy was pretty cool.
Who doesn't bring a glove to eat ice cream sandwiches?
